Abstract

In general, the students still find difficulties in English learning especially in reading comprehension. Therefore; this study was conducted to know the students’ difficulties in reading comprehension and to know the factors of difficulties in reading comprehension. The qualitative method was appied in this study. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Insana, North Central Timor Regency whicvh involved 20 students. The instrument was a multiple-choice test. The results of the study showed that the second-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Insana in the school year 2020/2021 have difficulties in reading comprehension by using pictures 20. The difficulties found by the students in reading comprehension namely the difficulties to understand the word, the difficulties to understand long sentence, the difficulties in reading and difficult in question.
