Abstract

This research endeavors to explore the transformative potential of a literacy-based learning approach in the realm of English language teaching. Grounded in a mixed-methods research design, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of literacy-focused instruction on both learners and educators. The first strand of findings reveals a significant enhancement in language proficiency among learners engaged in the literacy-based approach. Exposure to diverse texts and purposeful writing tasks emerges as a catalyst for improvements in reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and overall language competency. The second facet delves into the development of critical thinking skills, uncovering a clear association between engagement with diverse texts and heightened critical thinking abilities. Learners immersed in the literacy-based approach demonstrate advanced analytical and interpretative skills, contributing empirical evidence to the discourse on the nexus between literacy and cognitive development. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability emerge as a central theme in the third set of findings, with a statistically significant increase in students' self-reported cross-cultural competencies. Furthermore, the study sheds light on the impact of the literacy-based learning approach on educator professional development. This emphasizes the reciprocal relationship between pedagogical innovation and teacher growth. The research also underscores a statistically significant rise in learner engagement, affirming the connection between literacy-focused activities and increased student participation and motivation.
