A Study on Mastering Vocabulary Using Pictures of the Second Year Students of Smpn Neonbat in the School Year 2022/2023

The purposes of this study were to know the students vocabulary mastery using pictures and to know the mastery level of the students vocabulary using pictures. The method of this study was descriptive quantitative method. The research was conducted in the second year student of SMPN. Neonbat, Kota Kefamenanu Subdistrict, North Central Timor. The writer chose class A as the sample of this study which consisted of 20 students. The instrument which the writer used in this study is a test on vocabulary noun, adjective, and verb. The test consists of multiple choices and matching which consisted of 50 item test, 30 item tests consisted of multiple choices and 20 items consist of essay test. The data collection procedures can be divided into several stages including: The writer prepared 50 pictures to be used, explained about teaching vocabulary using pictures, showed the pictures and asked the students to look carefully at the pictures. The writer asked the students what the pictures were about, corrected answers, asked the students to memories the teaching of vocabulary, picked random pictures for the students to say the words/phrases. The writer asked the students to stop her when they found the correct words/phrases. The writer gave the tests to all students using multiple choice and matching to find out the students mastery of vocabulary. The analytical techniques used in this study as follows: The writer corrected and gave score to the test result of the students related. the writer analyzed the data. analysis through the process of scoring tabulation and discussion. To analysis the data, the writer used the following formula. with formula S= x/y x 100%; Notes: S = Student’s score, X = Total number of correct answer/incorrect and Y = total number of students. Based on the conclusion above, the writer would like to make the condusion that: The second year student of SMPN Neonbat Kefamenanu who become in subject of research have mastered the use of picture. It can be seen on average 1572 (78,6%) of error answer of second grade of SMPN Neonbat Kefamenanu. The level of the second grade students of SMPN Neonbat Kefamenanu of the subject are very good. The kinds of picture mastered by the students is Car. It can be seen in the table II shows that 12 students still on level Very good.
